2026-2027 Biology Class Contract
September 1st, 2026-Mr. Marchino’s first day of school in the 2026-2027 school year.
Welcome to Mr. Marchino and Mrs. Pepe's Living Environment class for the 2026-2027 school year.
This year we will be using both the Chromebook's and our textbook to enhance our learning experience. A Google Site has been created to assist you in your studies, inform you of work that we are currently doing or have done and contain the notes and assignments you need to complete for a successful year.
Please bring either a three ring binder or a spiral notebook and a folder of some sort. You can write with either pen or pencil during class ( blue or black ink) but tests and quizzes may require either pen or pencil, you will be instructed as to which will be needed.
This school year you WILL do a considerable amount of reading; all tests and quizzes including the Regents Exam taken at the end of the school year are mostly text based and therefore the greatest skill needed to practice this year will be reading.
There are conditions that must be met in order for you to be eligible to TAKE the Regents Exam in June. In order to be allowed to take the Regents Exam you must complete no less than;
1. 1200 minutes (20 hours) of acceptable laboratory practice. Within that 20 hours there will be three lab investigations that are required by New York State. All students will have ample opportunity to complete the necessary amount of hours to be eligible to take the exam. Failure to complete the Lab hours disqualifies you from taking the exam
2. You must attend school. All students taking Regents Exams must have enough "seat time" before being allowed to take the exam.
Additional "musts" to pass the class.
3. You must successfully complete tests and quizzes.
4. You must participate in some fashion, reading, answering questions, assisting others...
5. Any home assignments should be completed by the due date. Late is as good as undone.
6. You and all of your classmates are required to put in effort in the classroom and for any assignments outside of class.
7. You must think and try and probably get things wrong, but that is how you learn. In our class we make our mistakes before the tests and quizzes so we don't repeat the same mistakes on a test.
8. There must be a level of respect that you give and you should get the same in return from all around you adults as well as fellow students.
9. Cellular phones are no longer allowed in classrooms. Follow this link for NYS doc. New York State Phone-Free Schools Law . Any possession of a phone will be reported to the assistant principal in charge of their grade.
10. This year more than recent years you will be writing on paper and reading from paper and books. You must have your chromebook and have it charged everyday as well.
